Scientific Software Solutions Inc. is the only company in the world that has an exclusive focus on software for congenital heart disease. Since 1981 (one year prior to the release of the IBM PC) we have developed quality software products for both clinical and educational purposes and have compiled a record of success in computer program design for congenital heart disease.

Our staff of programmers, writers, and artists works closely with a wide variety of medical professionals to ensure that our software is as user-friendly as possible. We are proud of the fact that this collaboration has produced up-to-date products that have become indispensable to congenital heart disease professionals. Currently our products are used in over 100 countries around the world.

STAFF DIRECTORY

Jack Wilson - President and CEO
Mr. Wilson graduated from Davidson College in 1976 and founded Scientific Software Solutions following 15 years of experience in clinical environments where he designed, programmed, and implemented a wide variety of medical applications. He was the programmer responsible for the original PedCath3. His previous clinical experience enables him to understand and anticipate the needs of pediatric cardiologists.

Jon Moore - Lead PedCath Programmer and Chief of Technical Support
Mr. Moore received his BS in Computer Science from the University of Virginia and joined the Scientific Software team in August of 2002. Mr. Moore is the lead programmer for PedCath7 and the lead developer of PedCath8. He also provides the reliable tech support that keeps your PedCath program running smoothly.

Dr. Yu-Li Chen, MS, DDS - Senior Programmer and MAGIC Registry Support
Dr. Chen received her DDS from National Yang-Ming University in Taipei, Taiwan and her M.S. in Computer Science from James Madison University. She joined Scientific Software in 2004. Dr. Chen, with Jon Moore, has recently developed the phenomenally successful MAGIC interface with PedCath7. In addition to developing MAGIC's back end analysis tools, she continues to provide her programming expertise for the PedHeart line of educational products, specifically PedHeart Prints and PedHeart Encyclopedia.

Jasper Burns - Educational Project Manager - Content Development
Jasper Burns has been with Scientific Software since February 1999. He has a BS in Biology from George Mason University. He is the author and illustrator of numerous books and articles bringing his extensive experience to the team. Mr. Burns is the upstream educational project manager, focusing on the development and management of content for the PedHeart Suite. Recently, Mr. Burns' design and editing experience proved instrumental as he worked alongside Dr. Allen Everett and Dr. Scott Lim to produce The Illustrated Field Guide to Congenital Heart Disease and Repair. He is currently working with the same authors (plus Dr. Robert Battle) on a field guide to adult congenital heart disease.

Paul Burns - Educational Software Developer and Web Designer
Paul Burns brings a fresh perspective in web design, digital image creation, and animation to the field of medical education. He contributed most of the illustrations in The Illustrated Field Guide to Congenital Heart Disease and Repair and all of the artwork for Illustrated Field Guide to Adult Congenital Heart Disease. Moreover, Mr. Burns is the talent behind the illustrations and animations for PedHeart Resource. He joined Scientific Software in January 2002.

Alex Leff - Research and Development and PedCath Customer Support
Mr. Leff received his BA in Visual Art from Brown University in 2002 and arrived at Scientific Software Solutions in 2008. In addition to providing customer support for PedCath users worldwide, he will be focusing on the development of tools that can change the way congenital heart disease professionals and patients gain access to the information they need.

Toby Burns – Webmaster
Toby Burns graduated from homeschool and joined the Scientific Software team in 2007 as an intern web programmer. He is now webmaster and programmer for our PedHeart.com, PedCath.com, Cove Point, MagicGroup.org and Congenital.org websites.


Cara Shannon – Office Administration and Support
Ms. Shannon joined the Scientific Software team in 2008 after graduating from the University of Oregon with a BA in Spanish.  She focuses on maintaining efficiency in office procedures and communications.  Cara also contributes to the development and marketing of our educational products to better serve current and future clientele.

Emily Wilson
Ms. Wilson received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia in 2008. In addition to representing Scientific Software Solutions at educational conferences, she is applying her clinical and educational experience to the new web-based PedHeart Resource. Emily has a long-standing interest in Adult Congenital Heart Disease.

James A. Wells - Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Wells received his BS in Accounting from Virginia Tech and his MBA from Southern Illinois University. He has worked for several international firms and consults in Northern Virginia. Mr. Wells has been associated with Scientific Software since its incorporation in the early 1990s.

Mary Alissa Wilkins - Vice President
Ms. Wilkins graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BSW degree in 1977. She joined the Scientific Software Solutions team during the company's inception. In addition to her duties as a board member, she provides assistance for various office, accounting, and staff support tasks.
